Boards have patchy, mottled staining and sunning, with two or three very small surface marks. Gilt lettering on spine is quite faded, and spine ends are worn and bumped. Leading corners are rather worn and bent, with some fabric damage to lower rear leading corner. Pastedowns and endpapers have some minor age-spotting. Binding is a little loose at various points. Contents are clear. AF. Acceptable/No Dust Jacket.

Ink inscription to the front free end paper, dated 1947. Illustrated with forty colour plates and thirty-two black-and-white plates to 'London's Natural History&apos. Illustrated with thirty-two colour plates and thirty-two black-and-white plates to 'Britain's Structure & Scenery&apos. Collated, complete. Volume 3 and 4 from The New Naturalist series, including London's Natural History (1945) by R. S. R. Fitter on the decline and development of wildlife over London's growth, and Britain's Structure & Scenery (1947) by L. Dudley Stamp on the geological history and the scenery of Britain. Both are profusely illustrated throughout. The New Naturalist Library is a series of books, written by experts, concerning a variety of natural history topics, aiming to interest general readers in the wildlife of the British Isles. They have had considerable influence on many, such as W.D. Hamilton and Mike Majerus, who later became professional biologists. In the publisher's original cloth bindings, with the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, cloth is in excellent condition to 'London's Natural History'; cloth faded to 'Britain's Structure & Scenery&apos. Internally, firmly bound. To 'London's Natural History', pages are very bright and clean except for the odd spot to the fore edge. To 'Britain's Structure & Scenery', pages are generally bright and clean with the odd spot to the first and last few pages. Dust wrapper to 'London's Natural History' is chipped to the head of the spine, but is otherwise smart and bright.
